Supporting entrepreneurs

ASU Venture Catalyst, the university’s startup unit, won a grant from the Blackstone Charitable Foundation to pilot a new concept for creating entrepreneurial teams. Called the Applied Regional Economic Action 48, AREA48, it is a model for educating and supporting early-stage entrepreneurs using a hands-on approach to create new markets, products, startups and jobs.

“AREA48 catalyzes business growth and job creation by engaging non-traditional populations like retirees, veterans and recently unemployed yet highly-skilled workers, particularly those in the aerospace and construction fields.” – Gordon McConnell, assistant vice president for assistant vice president for innovation, entrepreneurship and venture acceleration in the Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development at ASU
