State Farm building on ASU land

The decision of the State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company to build 2 million gross square feet of office space along Tempe Town Lake on land owned by Arizona State University represents the first major step in the campaign to further the goals of the ASU Athletic Facilities District and begin the funding program for improvements to Sun Devil Stadium. The State Farm regional headquarters, located on nearly 20-acres of land adjacent to the District, will employ more than 8,000 workers and increase commerce around the surrounding community. Construction began in the summer of 2013 and is expected to be completed in early 2017 as ASU plans to transform the area into a major amateur sports destination, with a renovated Sun Devil Stadium as the centerpiece.
